Ok, so i want to include you ben 10 fans a little more with my fan comic. This is a contest in which the winner will have their alien featured on the next couple pages after this one here
[link]So heres how it'll work. You have to impress me with your designing skills. It doesnt have to have a proffessional look. You can do a simple sketch and describe the alien in detail in your artist description. The most creative and original design will win.
I also have my tablet working again, so there will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. These will be chosen by me and redrawn in photoshop in my manga style. The 1st place winner will be redrawn and featured in my comic.
The entries will judged by:
- Originality /10
- Design /10
- Creativity /10
Rules:
- You must describe your aliens abilities and characteristics
- You must be willing to accept your alien species to be destroyed

(blame Vilgax) But dont worry, the DNA will be collected and used later on in the story

- Your style doesnt have to be like mine. You can do it in your own style and it doesnt have to be coloured or shaded. Lines will be fine, just as long as you convince me in your description. You can even describe the colour scheme.
1st Place: Digitally Redrawn Alien , Pixel Avatar of alien and Featured in Comic
2nd Place: Digitally Redrawn Alien and Pixel avatar of alien
3rd Place: Traditionally drawn Alien and Pixel avatar of alien
The rest of the entries: A group SKETCH including the top 3 winners. Just in time for christmas

The contest will end on the 20th of December and only one of your entry will be accepted. You can do a few designs but pick your best one. Good Luck!
NOTE: to those of you who won my previous contest. If you still want those pixel avatars of your characters, please slap me and tell me to do them.

This is the part of the journal which i ramble on about completely unrelated stuff. So feel free to skip this part.
Youre probably sick and tired of me telling you this, but im sorry for being away for.....aww screw it, im probably gonna do it again. Yeah, so school is finally easing up as it gets nearer to christmas. So i have more time to do stuff now which is why i announced the contest. Im getting sick of doing realistic portraits and im getting less and less inspired as i do another piece. I hate school for doing this to me. Art is my life, and those teachers are sucking out my blood. You guys are my blood supply, so thank you for keeping me inspired. All of you are awesome at doing what you do.
Anyways, ive been addicted to music lately. One of the tracks immilking to death is Electric Worry by Clutch. Its a good one to listen to while your drawing. Thats another thing that keeps me going. Music. I'm not sure if it works for you guys, but it brings the best out of my drawing. to some people it's a distraction. And some of those people are in the exam board. Those bastards kept me from listening to music during the creation of my final piece. And the result was not what i hoped for. School has screwed up my thoughts about art. I have to keep reminding myself about what i think and not what the school wants me to think My mum wants me to go to uni. F**k that. I don't want to waste another 4 years of my life being told what i should think. I have taught myself how to draw and the teachers are acting like they had a part in it. So my hard work has apparently been as a result of their 'teaching'. If 'teaching' is sitting down for an hour doing nothing and occasionally coming over to peek over peoples shoulders, then yes, they really have 'taught' me a lot.
Sorry for rambling on, but thanks for reading this far if you have. Ill leave you with some things that help bring out the best in my drawing. Try them out to see if they work for you:
- have some munchies by your side. Nibble at them while your drawing. Dont get any greasy ones that will stain your work. Or crumbly stuff. Eat some Smarties for example.
- listen to some music. Try to vary the genre to suit what youre drawing.
- Have some basic references to help you get the right look but dont copy things, just get the idea of how things should look. However, if you really dont know how to draw what youre trying to, then copy it, but try to do it on your own next time you do it to see if youve learnt how to do it yourself.
- To keep your drawings from smudging, get another piece of paper, put it over the part your currently not drawing on and rest your hand on it.
- Inspire yourself before you draw. Look at some pictures of the style you draw in and practice.
- Do warm up sketches to get your mind working. If you like a particular doodle you drew, then finalise it.
